Introduction to bicycle maintenance

As the bikes of today are a fairly complex machine, this course will be based around the procedures a bike mechanic would perform on a new bike having its first (90 day) service. Demonstration bikes, which will be out of adjustment, will be set up for participants to learn how to adjust correctly, including:

  •  Gears
  • Headset
  • Basic brake adjustment
  • Wheel truing demonstration
  • Discussion and demonstration of threads, lubes, leverage, and more to gain an understanding of basic engineering principles of the bicycle.
  • Discussion and demonstration on the use of tools and tools selection

This course runs for a minimum of 5 hours including lunch break. (BYO lunch)

Cost: $120 (inc GST) includes the Big Blue Book of Bicycle Repair 2 valued at $49.95 or $85 without the BBB – 2 (couples, family members, etc only need one BBB – 2)
